Friday night was a very hot and humid night. The air was thick with anticipation, for the night of speedway racing at the Paris Speedway track.
Aaron Hesmer was having a up and down night, with his loss in the first heat to Mike Hammond, who looked fast and in great control. Close behind them Gary Hesmer and Katalin Davis were close too, with Katalin looking quick on the night.
Tommy Hensby and Terry Rideout joined in the fun, and both did a great job in providing some entertainment for the fans. Terry Rideout had a major scare in a hard charging heat, he was challenging Aaron and Gary Hesmer when his chain came off, and he was lucky to stay upright! But after some frantic work by his pit crew, he was able to return in the next heat to ride well.
With time on the clock ticking, only a final race was ridden, as the curfew approached. Aaron Hesmer, Mike Hammond, Katalin Davis and Gary Hesmer lined up, from the tapes Mike Hammond and Aaron Hesmer both lifted hard, leaving Gary Hesmer and Katalin Davis to charge away, Aaron picked up pace but was held back by Davis, as Gary took a hold on the race, Aaron passed Katalin on lap 3, but it was too late to reel Gary Hesmer in, and the Paris unbeaten record was broken as Gary proudly took the checkered flag!!!
Congratulations to all the riders, for putting on an awesome show of speedway racing!
