The very popular Czech rider George Stancl will be holding his Farewell meeting at Newcastle on Monday 27th September.
He is still only 34 but his 15 year career in the UK ended in 2008 when he bowed out with Newcastle.
He has always been known as a powerful rider and a good team man as well as a very friendly character and there are sure to be many who want to assist with his Farewell.
He says “It will be a four team event and I want to use Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield and Wolverhampton because they are the teams I have ridden for most.
“If I can find sponsors for the teams, I will name the teams after the sponsors. “
“It will be 16 heats and a final, and me and my dad will do two races. I have never really ridden with my dad!”
Father Jiri was a highly respected multi-World Finalist who had a long spell with Coventry in the UK.
Son George says “He was 12 times Czech national champion, ten times in a row, so I think he was the best rider from the old Czechoslovakia.
“The Elite League riders who can take part will depend on the Playoffs, and I have talked with some Premier League riders. Soon we will be able to announce some riders for the meeting.”
