With the onset of the school Summer Holidays now imminent and a reality, the Management of the Eastbourne ‘Lifestyle’ Eagles, in collaboration with quality media outlet, the Argus Newspaper, are delighted to announce the launch of a Summer ‘Kids for a Quid’ offensive, one they are sure will appeal most favourably to their younger supporters whilst making their weekly dose of Arlington speedway activity that little bit more affordable for the hardworking Mum’s and Dad’s.
Starting with next Thursday’s home encounter with local Essex rivals, the Lakeside Hammers (22nd July – parade time 7.30 p.m., first race 7.45 p.m.), special vouchers printed in the Argus newspaper of the day will entitle children under 12 years of age, when accompanied by an adult to be admitted to the stadium for the unbelievable price of a single pound. Indeed, if that seems a bargain too good to miss out on, well the even better news is that the offer will continue throughout the entire month of August, encompassing four further meetings in total, those including the return of title favourites, the Poole Pirates (5th August) who will no doubt travel thirsting for revenge following the 49-41 humbling they received at the Sussex venue last Thursday evening.
Following hot on the heels of the Dorset outfit come the Belle Vue Aces (12th August), track specialists Peter Karlsson, Hans Andersen and all then a further match up with former Eagles promoter Jon Cook and his Purfleet based Hammers (19th August) who come in search of Knockout Cup rewards before this munificent offer concludes with a visit from the reigning Elite League Champions, and a team from whom the Eagles will be seeking a measure of revenge following their mid June 48-45 triumph in Sussex, the Wolverhampton Wolves who arrive for Elite League B action at the tail end of the month, August 26th.
Each week, the Thursday edition of the Argus shall include special dated vouchers enabling each youngster (each child taking advantage of the offer to be accompanied by a different adult) entry to that evening’s meeting for the bargain price of just £1.00.
This will surely prove a popular deal with the parents as it potentially lightens the load on overstretched pockets, and furthermore, families coming from outside the catchment area reached by the Argus should not concern themselves as the newspaper containing the vouchers will be available to buy outside the turnstiles on match nights which will enable anybody in attendance to take full advantage of the offer.
The Sussex hierarchy have taken heed of suggestions made by their loyal and valued supporters and have introduced a raft of measures to make the Sport more affordable to one and all, other such promotions including special family tickets and the new Mascot offer unveiled in last Thursday evening’s match programme, the Summer ‘Kids for a Quid’ offensive being the latest innovation to bring the excitement of two wheeled Speedway action more within the affordability of many who might be finding life a little tough financially at the moment.
Co-Promoter Mike Bellerby commented, “We are delighted to be able to give something back to our supporters, the sport has always prided itself on its family image and an offer such as this can only embolden that impression. We couldn’t be more grateful to the good people at the Argus for their benevolence in helping us put this deal into being. They have long provided the Eagles with in depth and quality coverage through the hard working efforts of correspondent Brian Owen but this deal has taken their support to another level, actually helping us to bring fans through the turnstiles. We remain wholly grateful” he continued.
“With the Eagles fortunes most definitely seeming to be on the up following resounding victories over Coventry, Peterborough and last Thursday epic triumph over the Pirates of Poole, our ideal would see the Arlington terraces teaming with family groups throughout the Summer holidays, Mums, Dad’s and of course the kids, after all it is their interest that we hope will safeguard the future of the sport not only here in Sussex but throughout the Country” he concluded.
