19 riders from all corners of Europe raced the 1000m high speed oval in Marianske Lazne for Round 2 of the International Mefo Sport Flat track Cup 2010.
Several hundred spectators were entertained by hot action under pleasant summer conditions. While Marco Belli had his hands full with round 1 winner Richard Magic Mason, fierce battles were fought down the complete field during the 15 lap grand final! Reigning champion Pete boast was closely trailed by Glyn Pocklington and local riders Karel Provazjik and Jan Vondrasik were fighting it out with Stefan Gatzenmeier and Rob Sijbring. Tom van Nes toughed it out with Thomas Weigl as well as new comers Ronal Shamier and Massimo Bruni. German star Stefan Gatzenmeier was back in top form and scored his first podium in the All American Twins class joining dutch brothers Mick Jansen and Jan-Willem Jansen.
Round 3 was hosted the next day in beautiful Slany. Local speedway young gun Pavol Pucko made a guest appearance and treated his fans with some strong performances. The great crowd was completed with a visit from the local HOG party and treated to some very close racing on the 400m short track. Brit stars Pete Boast and Gyln Pockington felt more at home on the short track as well as Italian hot blood Massimiliano Andreotti. Several inline restarts were required after riders went down, but luckily they all managed to get up. On lap 4 of the Grand final Richard Magic Mason got caught up in a tangle with an over enthusiastic Andreotti and was forced to restart from the penalty line. Mason rode the wheels of his Honda during the remaining laps and put in a fantastic performance still finishing on the podium behind Marco Belli and Pete Boast.
