Marco Belli gave the Italian Zaeta machine it's first win on English soil, by winning Round 3 of the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack Championship.
Three times Champion Marco said 'This is one of the best wins I've ever had, the final washas tough as it gets. The 1/2 mile lime stone track was so demanding and the best riders in Europe were all in the Final. I'm so happy!'
Aidan Collins got the hole Shot on his HM Plant Honda and lead the first lap, but then Marco took the lead on the second lap. Behind them it was 16 year old Tom Woolley 3rd, another Italian Jacopo Monti 4th, then American Levi Mayer 5th and the previuos days' Mefo Cup winner Richard Mason rounding out the top 6.
Places were changing every lap and the rider most on the move was Jacopo Monti - on lap 6 he passed Collins and was in second closing on Belli. Woolley and Mason were battling for 4th and 5th, speedway star Kennett and Peter Boast had overhauled Levi Mayer.
As the laps wound down Belli was still under pressure from Monti and Collins, Mason had got clear of Woolley for 4th spot, Boastie was pulling in Kennett and just behined him was Darren Trapmore on the Kinrade Honda.
On the last lap Monti tried making a move on Belli and ran wide, leaving room for Collins to slip past but it was Marco who crossed the line on the back wheel for first place, from Collins and Monti holding on to last podium spot.
