With the Australian Sidecar Championship on this weekend at Newcastle, Gillman Speedway has announced tentative dates for the 2011 title.
Gillman Speedway Manager, David Parker, said: "I'm a strong believer that ideally when you go to an Australian Championship meeting it should have in the programme where and when next season's championship will be.
"With that in mind we are looking at staging the 2011 Australian Sidecar Championship meetings on Friday, 25 March and Saturday, 26 March however I would suggest supporters do not book any flights or accommodation yet, as we will not be able to confirm these dates for some time yet.
"Our problem with confirming the dates is because we do not want to clash with the Clipsal 500, which is usually held in March, and the Clipsal organisers are not in a position to give us their dates yet. Their dates are dependent on the V8 Supercars Australia fixture list, and the Government of South Australia, and the V8 fixture list is dependent on the date of the Australian Formula One Grand Prix.
"So at this stage it is out of our hands, but going on this year's dates, I think we'll be okay with 25 and 26 March. I can confirm we won't be running at Easter because it does not fall until 24 April next year, and there is just too much chance of rain in Adelaide at that time of the year."
Meanwhile, as stated, the 2010 Australian Sidecar Championship meetings go ahead at the Newcastle Showground in New South Wales this weekend.
Six riders have qualified for the Championship final on Sunday night (4 April) and they will be joined by the highest ten placed riders from a qualification meeting on Saturday afternoon (3 April).
