The Kart Raceway Cobras have moved quickly following Jamie Smith’s major calf injury by signing Chris Mills as a replacement No.1 during Smith’s enforced absence.
The Essex-born rider posted a 5.12 Premier League average (excluding bonus points) for Sheffield in 2009, but had surprisingly failed to gain a starting role for this season. He was previously with the Isle of Wight, Reading and – for two years which netted a League title, two Knock-Out Cups and two Trophy successes – King’s Lynn.
The 26 year old will take Smith’s originally announced place in the Leicester team that faces the Silver Ski Rockets at Hoddesdon on Saturday (March 20th, 7pm start). With Kurt Shields now set to ride for the Cobras against the American Dream Team on Easter Saturday, Mills will make his National League debut in the Cobras team that travels to King’s Lynn on April 18th, following up with a home match against Mildenhall on April 24th.
