The waiting is finally over as the Stoke Easy Rider Potters take to the track when they make the short trip to the West Midlands to face local rivals Birmingham in the M6 Trophy on Wednesday evening. The Potters have made five new signings since the two sides met in their last fixtures of the season last October with only skipper Jason Bunyan and Dane Klaus Jakobsen the only survivors from last season’s septet. Out go Jesper Kristiansen, Tom P Madsen, Robert Ksiezak, Craig Branney and Lee Complin. Incoming are Pole Michal Rajkowski, Czech Republic rider Hynek Stichauer, American Ricky Wells, and Aussie duo James Holder and Taylor Poole. The Brummies have also revamped their side over the close season with similar major changes as Brummies promoter Graham Drury has drafted in veteran Steve Johnston from Somerset to form a powerful top two with Birmingham skipper Jason Lyons who returns to Perry Barr for a third successive season. Richard Sweetman is the only other survivor from last season’s Birmingham outfit with Chris Kerr, Justin Sedgmen, Aaron Summers and Jake Anderson all joining the West Midlands club over the close season. New Stoke team manager Malcolm Vasey said “There’s very little between the two sides, both have been built over the close season and look very good on paper and I’m predicting a very close affair in both meetings. The reserves could well be the key in this meeting and every point will count. It will be a good test for us and I’m looking forward to the challenge.” Birmingham : Steve Johnston, Aaron Summers, Chris Kerr, Richard Sweetman, Jason Lyons (Captain), Justin Sedgmen, Jake Anderson Stoke : Jason Bunyan (Captain), Klaus Jakobsen, Michal Rajkowski, Hynek Stichauer, Ricky Wells, James Holder, Taylor Poole
