PETERBOROUGH PANTHERS
ULRICH Ostergaard is on his way back to Peterborough – on a permanent basis.
The Danish star, who has spent the last two seasons away from the Showground, agreed terms to return straight after Monday night’s opening meeting.
He comes into the squad instead of Poland’s Karol Zabik, ruled out on medical advice. His arrival is coupled with the signing of Scunthorpe’s Joel Parsons who will be the club’s new number eight, with Swedish youngster Linus Eklof joining Klaus Jakobsen in a doubling up role.
Panthers boss Trevor Swales said: “We looked at several options, including bringing in another new face but it was impossible to conclude anything because of conflicting commitments overseas.
“Ulrich was always in the frame, even during the winter, and he has the ability to score points away from the Showground which was a primary consideration.”
WOLVERHAMPTON WOLVES
WOLVERHAMPTON opened their season with a hard fought 47-43 win over neighbours Coventry – despite a stunning display from British Champion Chris Harris.
Harris notched 14-points for the Bees in Alun Rossiter’s first meeting in charge. Hot Danish prospect Nicolai Klindt was the top Wolves rider with 9+1 in an entertaining clash.
Klindt said: “I realise this is a big season for me and I have to do well. I’m trying new frames on my bikes and I feel really confident about the coming months.”
