Belle Vue speedway prepare for the 2010 season when a new-look team meets for the annual Press and Practice day on Monday, March 15, starting at 10-30am with the team photo call.
Only Patrick Hougaard, Charlie Gjedde and Stockport lad James Wright remain of last year's side.
Big hitters Hans Andersen and Peter Karlsson have been signed to give the Autogate Aces a sharper cutting edge with Salford rider Ricky Ashworth, England's Leigh Lanham and young Scot William Lawson also being brought in.
All will be available for interview between the photo call and the practice session. The squad includes three Danes and a Swede and – for the benefit of TV and radio - they all speak good English.
Belle Vue supremo David Gordon and team boss Chris Morton, who is also the Operations Director, will also be available for interview.
If anyone requires assistance please see Press Officer Richard Frost re interviews and track photographer Eddie Garvey re pictures.
There are tight Health and Safety rules about going on the track for pictures. We will do our best to cater for everyone's requirements but will be grateful if photographers would let Eddie organise the shoot.
Please call if you have any questions or requests.
Thumb nail pen pictures of the riders:
HANS ANDERSEN (born Odense, Denmark, November 3, 1980) (Average 9.15): The signing of the Danish World Cup captain and Grand Prix star is a main reason for the wave of optimism at the club.
PETER KARLSSON (born Gullspang, Sweden, December 17, 1969) (Average 8.66): The veteran Swede, a specialist round the Belle Vue track, was snapped up after leading Wolverhampton to the Elite League title last year.
PATRICK HOUGAARD (born Fredericia, Denmark, May 23, 1989) (Average 5.66): Big tip for the top. Only his second full season but made big strides in a struggling Aces side last season.
CHARLIE GJEDDE (born Holstebro, Denmark, December 28, 1979) (Average 5.27): The experienced Dane is back after dropping out of the side last July with a shoulder injury which required surgery. Can make a big improvement to his average and that means he is a key man.
JAMES WRIGHT (born Stockport, June 13, 1986) (Average 4.91): He is likely to get the tough No 2 role in the side but has shown he can handle it. Needs to improve away form but confidet he can do it.
WILLIAM LAWSON (born Perth, Scotland, February 27, 1987) (Average 3.20): The bright young Scot has impressed the Belle Vue management with his insistence that the time is right for him to move into top flight racing from the Premier League.
RICKY ASHWORTH (born Salford, August 17, 1982): If ever a rider was desperate to succeed it's Ashworth. He has waited for years to ride for his home town club and has got the chance at last while also captaining Sheffield in the Premier League.
LEIGH LANHAM (born Ipswich, August 15, 1977): The highly experienced Lanham, No. 1 at Newport, will join Ashworth in sharing a spot under the rule which allows riders to double up. They should put a real sting in the tail.
JOSH GRAJCZONEK (born Townsville, Australia, February 5, 1990): The young Aussie, who rides for Premier League Glasgow, has been signed as the club's No 8 and will be used as cover in the case of injury.
