NEWLY installed Dudley Speedway skipper Lee Smart will be formally introduced to supporters at a special season launch later this month.

Smart, 21, will be presented to fans at the evening with legendary former Wolves and Albion striker Steve Bull at Cradley Heath Liberal Club on Friday, March 26.

The Swindon-based rider will make the trip to the Black Country to answer questions, sign autographs and have his picture taken with supporters.

Heathens boss Will Pottinger said: “We’re delighted to have Lee at the Bully night. It’s going to be a great build-up to the new season with our first meeting 10-days after that.

“There is great excitement for Cradley fans wanting to support Dudley. They’ve got the Bully night, two home meetings in six days and the Simon Cross evening at Dudley Sports on April 9. It’s very, very exciting for us all.”

Heathens open the season with a grand opening challenge against the USA Dream Team at Birmingham on Wednesday, April 7, before launching their National League programme against Buxton Hitmen at Wolves on Tuesday, April 13.

“It will be a good test for us to start with, Buxton have a strong spearhead with Adam Allott and Craig Cook – they’ll be strong in Heats 13 and 15 I have no doubt,” said Pottinger.

And the managerial youngster admits he has mixed feelings about the club booking Bull for their big night this month – because he’s a West Brom season ticket holder!

“I go home and away with Albion and we have a massive rivalry with Wolves,” he said. “But I acknowledge what a legend Bully is in this part of the world and I’m looking forward to hearing him.”

Tickets for the March 26 date are £10 and are available from the Heathens contact number 07717 242957. Further details, plus the Simon Cross night information, are available from the official website dudleyspeedway.com

The club have also launched a new ClubCall line which will provide raceday weather updates plus match coverage, home and away, on 09066 555 936. Calls cost 60p/min.
