Though it may still be some weeks ahead of tapes up on the 2010 Elite League speedway season, that much anticipated moment will appear ever closer this coming weekend as the management of the Eastbourne Eagles throw open the doors of Arlington stadium and invite their valued supporters to a meeting to be held on Saturday 13th February at 7.00 p.m. in the stadium clubhouse.
The evening will take the form of a ‘Meet Mike and Trevor’ night, the function being hosted by club co-promoters Mike Bellerby and Trevor Geer. This will of course offer fans the ideal opportunity to pose all those questions that they would like answered to the Eastbourne hierarchy, outline their hopes and fears for the year ahead and generally share the club’s ambition and aspiration for the 2010 Elite League campaign and beyond.
As an additional attraction, with Eagles Cameron Woodward due back in the country in the latter part of the coming week, it is hoped that he will also be in attendance as the rider’s representative. Indeed, the timing of Woodward’s arrival could prove to be spot on as Bellerby and Geer are set to officially unveil the popular Australian as Eastbourne team Captain for the 2010 season, a singular honour which will see his name ranked alongside such club legends as Martin Dugard, Gordon Kennett, Nicki Pedersen and David Norris to name but a few.
In conjunction with the evening get together, Bellerby is pleased to announce that the discount offer on season tickets (see the official Eastbourne Eagles website for full details) for 2010 has been extended until Saturday giving supporters further opportunity of saving money heading into the new campaign and of course should anybody, whether individually or in groups, still be looking to join Eagles innovative ‘100 CLUB’, both Mike and Trevor will be only too pleased to speak to them, on either subject, at Saturday’s meeting.
Admission to Eagles ‘Meet Mike and Trevor’ evening is free and the clubhouse bar will of course be open to serve drinks and refreshment.
Bellerby is certainly looking forward to the event and a positive evening in the company of the clubs valued supporters. “We can look upon this as our first social engagement of the season, ahead of Eastbourne’s official tapes up against the Peterborough Panthers on March 20th. I am very excited about the battles ahead” he continued “and although our chances have again already been written off in certain quarters, Bob (Dugard), Trevor and I remain firm in our belief that the Eagles are in for a good year”. “Obviously there is still much work to do before a wheel is turned in anger” and hinting at the prospect of some imminent and very exciting news in the pipeline, he concluded “everything seems to be coming together nicely, we are looking forward to getting cracking with the new season and we very much hope that our supporters are too”.
