NATIONAL League Speedway newcomers Dudley Heathens have unveiled Ben Taylor and Richard Franklin as signings for the 2010 season.
The news means the Heathens, who will share home meetings between Wolverhampton's Monmore Green and Perry Barr at Birmingham, now have three of their seven riders in place with the addition of talented teenager Ashley Morris.
Taylor is a Birmingham asset who hails from West Yorkshire and has a spectacular all-action style. He's only 19 and in one of his appearances for the Perry Barr side he beat Australian international Steve Johnston last season.
Heathens boss Will Pottinger said: "'I'm very happy to have secured Ben. I remember watching him beat Steve Johnston at Birmingham last season so he is obviously a talented rider and his knowledge of the Perry Barr track should be an advantage for our home matches at that circuit.
“He should be a reliable heat leader at home and away fixtures and I'm confident that he can improve his starting average.''
Franklin, meanwhile, joins Dudley from Scunthorpe and he comes from Coventry. He expressed a desire to join the Heathens when plans for the club were launched in November.
Said Pottinger: "Richard is somebody I got to know last season when he rode for the Heathens in a second half match at Birmingham.
"I was impressed with him during that time and he was very keen to ride for Dudley when the news was announced. He's a young British lad who is local to both of our home tracks and I feel he will only get better as the season progresses. He has visited most away tracks a few times now so that should hopefully work in our favour as well."
Pottinger is well on the way towards confirming three more signings within the next week.
CONFIRMED HEATHENS SIGNINGS (Age in brackets): Richard FRANKLIN (18), Ashley MORRIS (15), Ben TAYLOR (19).
