Ipswich Witches are pleased to announce the signing of former British Under 21champion Ritchie Hawkins as their Number 8 rider for the 2010 Elite League season.

Peterborough based Hawkins, son of former rider Kevin Hawkins, will be doubling up with Ipswich and Somerset Sharp Rebels in the Premier League, a club where he has previously tasted success as a member of the 2005 Premier League Fours championship quartet.

Ritchie has enthusiastically grabbed the chance to gain Elite League experience with the Witches, travelling down from Peterborough to lend a hand with the remodelling of the Foxhall circuit: “It was great to get involved with the work on the track – I am convinced that the changes are going to mean more exciting racing this year and I am really looking forward to that”.

The signing of Hawkins adds yet more of an East Anglian flavour to the 2010 Witches side with Scott Nicholls, Oliver Allen, Carl Wilkinson, Danny King and Ritchie all hailing from this part of the country .
