Riders from four states will be competing in the Suzuki of Newcastle Sidecar Masters meeting at the Newcastle Showground Speedway on Australia Day afternoon (Tuesday January 26).
South Australian representation is headed by reigning national champions Mark Mitchell and passenger Tom Golding, while Daniel Puddy and Shane Evans are also making the trip.
Warren Monson and passenger Devan Gates are one of the best credentialed combinations from the Mildura hotbed of sidecar racing, and along with up-and-comers Scott Munro and Andrew O’Rourke, they will carry the Victorian hopes.
Furthest travelled competitors for the meeting will be the Western Australian paring of Dave McDonald and passenger Shane Gilligan.
While five times national champion Darrin Treloar and passenger Justin Plaisted heads the New South Wales brigade, Broken Hill rider Rick Stephens is in the line-up alongside the riders from Sydney and Newcastle.
One of the Newcastle contingent, Darren Café and passenger Don Morris scored an impressive victory in a meeting at Maryborough last Saturday night.
To give fans some variety, a line-up of more than ten quads will provide the support events on the program.
Gates at the Newcastle Showground will open at 2pm on Tuesday, practice at 2.45pm and racing from 4pm.
