The snow and ice might currently be lying thick on the ground but the behind the scenes activity continues to heat up down Arlington way as the management of the Eastbourne Eagles continue to put preparations in place ahead of the 2010 Elite League season.

In addition to their search for a main team sponsor and with applications and cheques starting to arrive in support of Eagles innovative ‘100 CLUB’, the Sussex side’s managing triumvirate of co-promoters Bob Dugard, Mike Bellerby and Trevor Geer have issued a further ‘Your Speedway Club Needs You’ plea to their loyal supporters.

The clubs hierarchy are eager to add to their off track support team by reconstructing the Eastbourne Speedway Supporters Club. Dugard in particular has been a regular advocate that a vibrant and industrious Supporters Club is a vital facet to a teams continued success and anxious to resurrect such a body at Arlington, the promotion are inviting fans to make application to join the new supporter’s club committee.
Mike Bellerby commented “We are keen to build up the supporters club once again, specifically with a view to organising fund raising events within the club as well as arranging travel to the Eagles away fixtures. It makes a huge difference to the lads when they are well represented on the terraces, particularly when they are on the road and if this is something we can facilitate through the supporters club then we are dedicated to doing so”.

“Our supporters are effectively the lifeblood of the club and therefore we are looking to establish closer working links with them. Their views are important to us and we see the Supporters Club as an ideal way of getting a free flow of ideas and information moving between us and together we can strive towards success both on and off the track”.

Any supporters interested in putting their names forward to join the committee are urged to contact Trevor Geer, 21 Pevensey Road, Polegate, East Sussex BN26 6HJ tel.no. 07876521421 e-mail trevorgeer@o2.co.uk Further details can also be found on the clubs official website www.elite-eagles.com

EAGLES PLAN MEET AND GREET SUPPORTERS GATHERING TO WELCOME MATEJ ZAGAR

One meeting that the Eastbourne Eagles management are particular keen to arrange is a general supporters meeting and one at which they are looking to formally introduce exciting new signing and new Eagles number one Matej Zagar.

Such a gathering would be intended to take place in the Arlington club house on a date to be arranged towards the end of January. “Naturally we feel our supporters will be keen to meet Matej in person for the first time as a fully fledged Eagle, and we would hope to have him sign his new contract in their presence the same evening. Equally we are sure that Matej is eager to encounter a new band of admirers” commented Mike Bellerby.

“What we would be asking is an entry fee of £5.00 to the meeting, a contribution that would help us cover the cost of Matej’s travel over here, but before finalising the date we would welcome comments from supporters indicating whether they would be interested in attending such a gathering” he continued.
“We are looking forward to hosting such an event” said Bellerby “and are excited by the prospect of introducing Matej Zagar as our new number one to the fans. We feel it would also provide the perfect start to the formal build up to the season ahead. We are keen to gauge the views of our supporters on the subject and of course hope that they share our vision” he concluded.

Once again all such representations can be made to Trevor Geer, 21 Pevensey Road, Polegate, East Sussex BN26 6HJ tel.no. 07876521421 e-mail trevorgeer@o2.co.uk As ever further details can also be found on the clubs official website as detailed above.

BUILD UP TO THE NEW SEASON CONTINUES APACE

Eastbourne co-promoter Mike Bellerby is delighted to report that support for the Eagles forward thinking ‘100 CLUB’ is continuing to grow and with the cheques for the requisite £1000 contributions now arriving the 100 CLUB is now officially up and running. He is also most pleased that season ticket applications for the 2010 campaign are also starting to roll in.

“We realise that financially the Festive season is a tough time for everybody, particularly with the global recession having bitten hard over the duration of 2009” he observed.

“However, we are very pleased with the initial response that we have received with regard to both the ‘100 CLUB’ and season ticket sales”. He was quick to point out however that by no means was it too late to cash in on both fronts, mindful of the fact that both families and businesses alike will surely be starting to examine their budgets following the winter excesses and looking forward to entertainment possibilities in the coming months.

Details of both, as well as the ongoing auction to become the Eagles main sponsor for the 2010 season can of course be found on the clubs official website www.elite-eagles.com but Bellerby was anxious to remind supporters that season tickets are still on special offer for applications received by 31st January.

Until that time the prices are as follows :- Adults £265, Concessions £225 and children £100, the costs of each including entry to the stadium (though not admission to the seated stand and with programmes charged extra at £2) not only for all the Eagles home Elite League and Knockout Cup fixtures (excluding play offs and testimonial meetings) but also to the Sussex sides opening Challenge fixture on March 20th 2010, the opponents for which the club are hoping to confirm as the Peterborough Panthers – which of course spells an early return for Eastbourne asset and teenage star Lewis Bridger – within the next few days.

From February 1st onwards, season ticket prices will be charged at £280 for Adults with Concessions priced at £240 and child (6 – 15 years) season tickets costing £115

Family season tickets (two adults and two children) are also available at £700

These are available from Shona at Dugard.com tel.no. 01273 732286 e-mail SalesP@dugard.co.uk further details can once again be found on the clubs official website http://www.elite-eagles.com

Elsewhere, team matters all seem to be slotting into place nicely, Bellerby substantiated with six members of the Eastbourne complement, Matej Zagar, Lukas Dryml, Simon Gustafsson, Cameron Woodward, Joonas Kylmarkorpi and Ricky Kling confirmed as starters for the 2010 season.

Bellerby was anxious to point out that plans to add highly rated Russian prospect Denis Gizatullin to the number were still very much ongoing.

“It is no secret that we fully intend to include Denis in our line up” the Eagles co-promoter continued “and we would view him as an integral part of our push for honours. We are currently working through the mountain of paperwork that somehow accompanies the signing of the Russian star and we would hope to have some news to relate in the very near future. One thing is for certain, our loyal supporters will be kept informed of all such developments as and when they occur” Bellerby concluded.
