Simon Stead and Morten Risager will join Leigh Adams, Mads
Korneliussen and Grzegorz Zengota in Swindon’s top five for the 2010
speedway season.

Stead and Risager, both club assets, represented Swindon in 2009 and
enjoyed solid spells with the club.

Danish youngster Morten Risager was drafted into Swindon’s 2009 line
up as a late season replacement for Jurica Pavlic. The likeable Dane,
an experienced top flight rider, spent the early part of the ’09
campaign with Ipswich following an injury to club skipper Leigh
Lanham.

A stint with Manchester’s Belle Vue Aces ensued before Risager joined
Swindon to assist with the club’s play off-charge.

Risager alternated between the Robins’ reserve berth and main body
during his spell with the club, successfully notching an array of
eye-catching hauls. Indeed the twenty two year old showed great
tenacity and speed during his time at Blunsdon.

Simon Stead meanwhile spent a full campaign at Blunsdon in 2009 and
enjoyed an impressive season in Robins’ colours. Having spent the 2008
term on loan at Coventry, Stead became a full Swindon asset when he
figure in a swap deal that saw Charlie Gjedde cement his move to Belle
Vue.

The Sheffield born rider – who has accumulated a host of club honours
during his British career – settled well at Blunsdon in 2009 and
concluded the season with an Elite league average of 6.97. Indeed, the
twenty seven year old was ever present in the Robins’ domestic
campaign.

Swindon co-owner Gary Patchett said:

“Morten and Simon performed well for Swindon during the 2009 season
and we’re pleased to welcome them both back in 2010. They were very
keen to return to Blunsdon and are both targeting increases on their
starting averages.

Morten and Simon are now fully familiar with the Swindon setup, have
built up a rapport with the Swindon supporters and have good Blunsdon
track knowledge. We are therefore confident that both riders will
start the season strongly and continue to develop over the course of
the season”
