Popular dane Mads Korneliussen is the latest confirmed starter for
Swindon’s 2010 campaign.
The Robins’ asset, who spent the 2009 season on loan at Peterborough
Panthers, slots into the side with a starting average of 6.30.
The twenty six year old joins Leigh Adams and Grzegorz Zengota in the
main body of Swindon’s 2010 team in what will be Korneliussen’s fifth
season in Robins’ colours.
The Alborg born racer, a former Danish U21 Champion, is an established
fans’ favourite at Blunsdon and is renowned for his never-say-die
riding style.
The Dane first linked up with Swindon during 2005 in a doubling up
capacity with Premier league Newport. Three successive full time Elite
league berths at Blunsdon followed as Korneliussen helped the Robins
reach a trio the Elite league playoffs in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
A steady season with Peterborough ensued in 2009 where Mads competed
in thirty-one Elite League matches, scoring 215 points in the process.
Swindon co-owner Gary Patchett said:
“Of course, Mads is very popular amongst Swindon supporters after his
previous stint at Blunsdon.
By his own admission, he regrets not having accepted our offer to ride
for the club in 2009 and is excited about coming back to Blunsdon in
2010.
Although Mads is only in his mid twenties, he is an experienced Elite
league rider and can therefore offer the younger members of the squad
some valuable advice as the campaign unfolds. Obviously, Mads has
worked closely with Robins’ skipper Leigh Adams before and the two
riders share a good relationship.
Mads has consistently upped his average whilst riding for Swindon and
we’re confident he can improve on his starting figure of 6.30 next
season”
