Belle Vue have signed Salford-born local boy, Ricky Ashworth, to leave them needing just one rider to complete their team building for 2010.
The 27-year-old will continue to ride in the Premier League for his parent club, Sheffield, while racing in the Elite League for the Aces.
Ashworth comes into the team under the rule which allows Premier riders to double up and share a place in the top flight.
The move he means he has completed a full circle in his career as he had his first speedway rides at Belle Vue nine years ago before taking the chance of a team place at Sheffield.
It's a dream move for Ashworth who has always wanted to ride for his home town club. He looked set to join in the Aces in 2005 but it was prevented by a hitch over his average and he went to Poole instead.
Ashworth's arrival leaves the Aces to make one more signing, a second double up rider, to complete their starting line-up.
Team boss Chris Morton said: “We are thrilled to have got Ricky to Belle Vue at last and he's very pleased as well.
“He knows what we expect from him and we are confident he can produce it. Also, I know from my own experience just how much it means for a local boy to ride for the Aces.
“We have looked at his schedule for next year and, as far as things stand at the moment, he will be available for most of our matches, especially at home.
“We are considering some some good options for the other double up rider.”
