After much speculation, Swindon Speedway can now confirm that Polish
hot-shot Grzegorz Zengota will ride for the Robins in 2010.

The twenty-one-year-old joins on an assessed 5.00 average in what will
be his inaugural Elite League campaign.

Zengota, widely acknowledged as one of Poland’s hottest speedway
prospects, was born in the town of Zielona Gora in the west of the
nation.

Since making his speedway debut in 2004, the youngster has spent his
Polish League career with Zielona Gora and played an integral role in
the team’s Ekstraliga Championship-winning campaign.

Indeed, Zengota has risen through the junior ranks at Zielona Gora to
become one of Poland’s most sought-after youngsters.

Aside from domestic glory, Zengota has been part of the Polish
Under-21 squad that triumphed in the team speedway junior World
Championship in both 2008 and 2009. Indeed, in the latter meeting, the
youngster scooped 13 points as Poland notched a commanding 57-point
total.

Furthermore, Zengota notched an 8-point tally in the 2009 World
Under-21 Championship, which earned the Pole a creditable seventh
placed finish.

The youngster has spent some time in Swindon during recent days,
meeting club officials and viewing the Abbey Stadium set-up. The
363-metre Blunsdon bowl is a similar size to Zielona Gora’s 340-metre
circuit, with just over 3 seconds separating the respective track
records.

Swindon team manager Alun Rossiter said: “Grzegorz is one of the most
highly-rated Polish youngsters and I’m sure Swindon fans will be
thrilled that he’ll be riding at Blunsdon in 2010.

“Grzegorz’s individual performances and Polish League scores mean his
acquisition is hugely exciting for the club. He is used to the highest
level of racing, having ridden in Poland’s top league and been amongst
some very competitive junior events.”
