Ipswich Witches have now completed their team building for the 2010 Sky Sports Elite League season and will track the following line-up:

Scott Nicholls (GB) 8.08
Robert Miskowiak (POL) 7.69
Danny King (GB) 6.80
Oliver Allen (GB) 6.29
Claus Vissing (DEN) 4.53
Dawid Stachyra (POL) 3.89

The remaining team place will be shared by 2 Premier League riders who will be ‘doubling up’ with their parent club and Ipswich:

Linus Sundstrom (SWE) 3.37
Carl Wilkinson (GB) 3.34

This gives a combined team average of 40.65 (maximum allowed by league regulations = 40.95).

Speedway Director Chris Louis is bullish about his new side: “ I’m really pleased with our line-up for 2010. Every rider in the team – for differing reasons – has the scope to improve their performances next year and I am very happy that we will have a competitive side. If we can avoid the disastrous start we had last year with two riders being injured in the very first meeting and make a solid, confidence boosting start to the campaign then we can definitely be in the mix at the end of the season”.

Team Manager Pete Simmons has high hopes for the newcomers to the team: “ I think the arrival of Linus Sundstrom is great news, not only because he is an exciting young up and coming rider but because he will ease the burden on Carl Wilkinson whose schedule last year was overloaded due to the injuries to Kozza Smith. Claus Vissing had some good meetings at Foxhall for Peterborough last year and I am confident that he will up his game in 2010.

Olly Allen is a tough little character who always bounces back from adversity and he will give valuable support to the three heat-leaders. I’m also expecting good things from Dawid Stachyra. He had a bit of an up and down season last year but by the end he was really flying –scoring double figures at Belle Vue for instance . He knows all the tracks now and I am sure he will grasp this opportunity with both hands. Robert Miskowiak came back to us mid-season last year with a point to prove and impressed everyone with his determination and if he carries on where he left off he will do an excellent job for us”.
