BSI Speedway has confirmed the FIM Speedway World Cup (SWC) Race Off and Final events will return to Poland in 2011 to a new venue for the team world championship, the Edward Jancarz Stadium, Gorzow Wielkopolski.

The city of Gorzow Wielkopolski, situated in north west Poland, will also host Event 1 of the 2010 FIM Speedway World Cup, date to be confirmed.

Announcing the new deal, Paul Bellamy, managing director, BSI speedway said: "It is great to welcome another new venue to the world championships. The Race Off and Final of the FIM Speedway World Cup are historically two of the most exciting speedway events on the calendar. Poland has a proud record in this competition with an unprecedented three SWC wins under their belt and I'm sure they will be looking to repeat their performance on home soil in 2011.

"We are also very much looking forward to opening next year's SWC at Gorzow Wielkopolski. The stadium has undergone extensive construction work and the superb new grandstands and facilities make this a fantastic arena to watch speedway and I am sure the city and the club will put on a great event."

Next year's SWC Event 1 will be the first time a world championship meeting will be held at the Edward Jancarz Stadium, and Władysław Komarnicki, President of speedway club Stal Gorzow Wielkopolski, is delighted the club has attracted the prestigious world championship events:

"For Gorzow Wielkopolski, in its 62-year club history, the FIM Speedway World Cup will be the greatest event ever. As President of the speedway club, I'm especially proud that this event will take place during my tenure. This decision is a great summary of a large investment effort (new stadium) brought to life by the City Council and the President of Gorzow. On behalf of the managing board I express hope, that BSI in the very near future will consider Gorzow Wielkopolski as a Grand Prix organizer after this year's successful Junior World Championship and surely also successful World Cup in 2010 and 2011."

The popularity of the SWC means the focus of speedway fans around the world will be on the club and the city of Gorzow Wielkopolski with many supporters travelling to the event and watching on television. It is an important milestone for the city as Tadeusz Jędrzejczak President of Gorzow Wielkopolski explains:

"I am extremely happy, that Event 1 in 2010 and the FIM Speedway World Cup Race Off and Final events in 2011 will take place in Gorzow's Edward Jancarz Stadium. The City as well as the modern multi-purpose stadium, fully deserve and the praise for such a privilege. I can assure that speedway fans all over the world who visit Gorzow will be very impressed with the facilities of both the stadium and the city and we look forward to welcoming them all.
