Seven times Grand National Champ CHRIS CARR won the final round of the Pozzani Silkolene Shorttrack UK Championship at Rye House Speedway Stadium on Sunday.
Chris said the standard of riders had gone up a league after having to work hard to win his heat, as Ade Collins riding the Buckingham Van Sales Honda lead Chris for 6 of the 8 laps.
Semi 1 saw Pete Boast on the works Suzuki and Marco Belli on a works CCM hit the front with Chris in third spot. For the first three laps they traded places but Carr moved up front and began to gap Boast and Belli. The race was stopped on lap 6 when Richard Mason and his bike went through the mesh fence and landed on the dog track! After a short delay Richard was able to take his place in the line out. Chris took the win from Boast, Belli and Justin Hargate on the Helmets4U Honda, with first time finalist Steve Coles Honda in 5th.
Semi 2 was a great display from Tom Woolley on the works CCM with a start to finish win, 2nd was Ade Collins still keeping his chances of the UK title alive, 3rd Glyn Cowboy Pocklington on a Helmets4U Honda, 4th Daz Trapmore on the Kindrade Honda and final transfer spot went to Jon Bell on a 525 KTM.

Collins and Carr were side by side for two laps with Boast waiting for any mistake by the 2 front runners and 15 year old Tom Woolley moved into 4th spot.
On lap 3 Chris Carr took the lead on the HM Plant Honda, Boast was pressing Collins and Marco Belli had now moved into 5th spot. On lap 6 Jacopo Monti went down on turn 1 but did great job of getting his bike off the track so the race continued. Lap 7 sawTom Woolley hit the back of Boast going into turn 3, somehow they both stayed on but Tom dropped behind his team mate Marco.
By lap 10 Chris was pulling away from the field, Collins, Boast, Belli and Tom Woolley stayed a close packed bunch. On the last lap Chris had a six bike length lead plenty of time to pull a wheellie as he crossed the line, Collins took a fine 2nd but Boast took 3rd place giving him the 2009 Pozzani Silkolene ShorttrackUK Championship and the number 1 plate for 2010,Tom Woolley pulled great move off to beat his team mate Marco to 4th spot.
