Astley & Tyldesley made the short trip to Stockport for the final Northern League match of the season.

The first half saw A & T's Polish riders getting the heat wins, but Stockport regularly packing the minor places to share the points. A & T took the lead in heat 4 with a Dickenson / Jamson 6-4 over Lam, after Read fell. The next race saw Burchardt fall as he tried to pass Higham and Stockport took a 7-2, as Burchardt re-mounted but didn't finish. At the half way stage, Stockport led by 3 points. A & T came out strongly in the 2nd half, with two successive 7-3 heat wins, firstly from Dickenson / Wlodarczyk over M. Lush / Lam, followed by Pilas / Burchardt over J. Lush / Radcliffe. Two more 5-5s followed, then a Dickenson / Pilas 7-3 in heat 13 over J. Lush / Lam sealed the points for A & T. Stockport rounded off the match with a well worked 7-3 to Higham / Radcliffe over Pilas / Knowles in the last race, to make the final score 77-72 for Astley.

Tomasz Wlodarczyk raced unbeaten for A & T, with Remi Burchardt beaten only in heat 5 and Dariusz Pilas beaten only in heat 15. Ben Dickenson had three race wins, along with two last places. This was Andy Knowles' last match before retiring and he had the satisfaction of seeing A & T win the match. Stockport displayed some excellent team riding throughout the match, to keep the scores close, despite providing only 2 of the 15 race winners, but took maximum points in both those races. Ben Higham was the home team's best rider, with solid scores from the remainder.

Stockport were already assured of third place in the league at the start of the match. A & T's win saw them climb above Bury and draw level with Edinburgh on match points, for fourth place.
