Chris Harris will carry the hopes of the home crowd in the 2009 FIM Speedway WC Grand Prix Challenge as he looks to make sure of a place in the 2010 SGP series.
Harris has been a full-time SGP rider for the last three years, and enjoyed the best night of his career at the Millennium Stadium in 2007 with his dramatic British GP win.
However, he finished narrowly outside the top eight at the end of the season, and after receiving a nominated place for each of the two subsequent years, he elected to contest the qualifiers this time around.
His domestic form this season has been consistent, and he became national champion for the second time when he was victorious at Poole in May, adding to his 2007 win at Wolverhampton.
And there will be no rider in the line-up with more experience of the Coventry track, as Harris has ridden for the Bees since 2004 and took over as captain of the Brandon club last year.
