Sweden's Antonio Lindbäck has been announced as the wild-card for the FIM Scandinavian Speedway Grand Prix at Malilla in Sweden on Saturday, August 15.

The call-up to round seven of the individual world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix series reflects the form the rejuvenated 24-year-old has shown since his return to the sport this year.  He was a key member of the Swedish team at the recent FIM Tobet Speedway World Cup and impressed many with his third place at the FIM Swedish SGP earlier in the season, where he was also selected as a wild-card.

Commenting on his selection, a delighted Lindbäck said: “This is a great news for me and my team. We have been working very hard and it is great to be given the opportunity to compete at the highest level once again. My season has gone pretty well so far and I am enjoying my racing and I’m looking forward to be back in a Grand Prix and mixing it with the world’s best.”

Lindbäck, a former World Under-19 champion, qualified for the 2005 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series and raced in the World Championship until 2007.  Off track problems caused him to retire from speedway but now, under the guidance of six-times World Champion Tony Rickardsson, his career appears to be firmly back on track.

The track reserves at the G&B Arena, Malilla, will be Simon Gustafsson at No. 17 and Ludvig Lindgren, the younger brother of SGP rider Fredrik Lindgren, who will take the No.18 race-jacket.
