Tom Perry became the new holder of the ACU International 125 Youth Title when he won the Wrekin GTC hosted British Final held at Bridgnorth, Shropshire, United Kingdom on the afternoon before the Bewdley Bonanza.

This one off final was introduced to revive the 4 stroke class and the fair entry received made this a lively event . Perry was beaten in only one heat, by 2005 champion,Daniel Glover who had made the long journey from Kent to defend his title.Glover had to be content with second on the day,but the future for grasstrack racing is looking good if riders of this calibre stick with the sport. In third place on the day was another Wrekin club member,Richard Guest who was riding in only his sixth grasstrack meeting.

A truly superb effort from the Wolverhampton based youngster.Ross Wharton having his last rides in this class, due to reaching the upper age limit, used his experience to finish fourth overall. The spectacular Darren Drew finished in fifth but would have been higher had a not suffered a machine failure in his second heat.In sixth was Chris Timms who could also have finished higher had he not fallen in the last race of the day.FGA regulars James Williams and Michael Guest took seventh and eight although Williams was also effected by a non scoring ride.In 9th was Sam Carvill who will have benefited from the experience gained and 10th was Danny Drew who had to withdraw from the meeting after two rides with machine problems.

The standard of racing produced by all competitors in this class was superb and the club wishes to acknowledge the efforts of all concerned.

The sixth round of the 2006 FGA Championship were run as the support classes for the meeting, and the small but high quality entry of Senior riders produced some great action on the fast flowing circuit laid out.The meeting was won by the evergreen Mick Jones who took victory from pre meeting favourite Dave Meredith.Meredith was no doubt regretting a costly fall in his third heat which ultimately cost him the overall win.

Sharing third place were Sam Flowers and Paul Timms, both scoring valuable championship points in the quest for the overall title at the end of the season.Defending champion Len Sanders was restricted to fifth and Steve Carvill rounded out the top six.The meeting saw the first appearance in the seniors of Gary Leadbitter who acquitted himself well, and a track return, after a considerable number of years out,by Ant Williams who understandably rode steadily and enjoyed being out on the track.

The FGA Junior races featured many of the riders from the International 125 class, and therefore it was no surprise that Tom Perry completed a fine days work with another full house maximum score.Richard Guest went one better than his International finish to take second and Chris Timms from Birmingham took third.James Williams added to his overall points tally with a solid 4th place and Claire Frays salvaged something from the day with fifth place on a bike borrowed from her brother, after her own blew up in practice.Michael Guest showed improvement to take seventh and Sam Carvill and Steve Frays finished seventh and eight respectively.

The Golden Helmets were raced for before the main meeting and Mick Jones reclaimed the Senior award from Sam Flowers and Dave Carvill.
In the Juniors it was Tom Perry who retained his "lid" from Richard Guest and Claire Frays.

The club wishes to thank the Bewdley MCC and all at the ACU for all their help and support in hosting this event.

Thanks also to BBC Shropshire for the media coverage from both Local Radio and Television. The meeting feature which centres around local champion Tom Perry can be viewed on the BBC Shropshire Website. Please follow the below link to Local TV.The feature is called "Teenager is Grasstrack Champion"
