BELLE VUE ACES
 
JAMES Wright has been handed a World Championship reprieve and will compete in this weekend's semi-final in Latvia.

Wright narrowly missed out on automatic qualification for the event from his quarter-final in Austria but has been re-instated due to withdrawals.

He said: "It's an absolute panic getting my bikes and mechanics sorted out at such short notice, but it's an opportunity I didn't want to give up."
 

NEWPORT WASPS
 
NEWPORT have made major team changes by signing former Ipswich rider Leigh Lanham and Swedish youngster Jonas Andersson.

Former skipper Mark Lemon and Brent Werner are the men to make way, with Paul Fry taking over as captain.

Wasps co-manager Laurence Rogers said: "The club owners felt the season had to be turned around after the inconsistent results so far. Fans can be reassured that we are planning ahead."
