For the first time, the International Mefo Sport Flattrack Cup racers were invited to support a FIM world championship round and entertain more than 2000 spectators.
14 riders from 6 different countries fought for honors on the super fast 1000m track with banked turns in the beautiful town of Marianske Lazne. Reigning champion Marco Belli was dominant all day, riding for the first time on the brand new Dutch-brothers Harley-Davidson 1200. Even with a punctured rear tire he managed third in one of his qualifying heats! Showing once again why he is one of the top contenders of the series.
The fight for second place was fierce all the way up to the finish line! Wiemer Borger and Steve Hall fought it out during the all deciding 12 lap grand final! Switching positions throughout it was Borger who got the best run out of turn 4 and beat Hall by a whisker to the line! An honorable mention goes to local enduro racer Karel Provazjik who came home a solid 8th place in the final! More twin power took the start with Steve Hillary on his XR750 and Mario Müggler on another Harley-Davidson 1200. Also Jan-Willem Jansen earned himself a front row start on his XR1000, before he was hampered by a broken spark plug. We welcomed the return of veteran Franz Strohhammer!
